90 minutes of focused prayer on Freedom Day – 27 April 2021

A renewed call to focused prayer from the pastors & leaders of The Return, South Africa

Dear Friends,

Help us mobilize as many churches and individuals as possible to join for 90 minutes of urgent, focused prayer on Freedom Day – 27 April 2021. Please read this letter carefully for all the details. 

Why another national prayer meeting?

In the months leading up to the historic 1994 elections, the vast majority of people in the country and around the world believed that South Africa was on the verge of disaster. Some even expressed the possibility of civil war or, worse, even a scenario like we saw in Rwanda. 

THEN THE CHURCH ROSE IN PRAYER 

People got together in churches, offices, and homes to seek the face of the Lord, and what was doomed to be a disaster was miraculously turned around into a peaceful transition that was applauded by the world. The Rainbow nation was born.

Now today, 27 years later, South Africa is again on the verge of disaster. We are plagued by a lack of decisive political leadership, corruption and greed. Furthermore, the COVID pandemic has created an untenable situation that has led to dire poverty, an ever-widening gap between rich and poor, huge unemployment and a government that has run out of resources and strategies needed to turn the situation around.

ONCE AGAIN, THE CHURCH (ALMOST 80% OF OUR POPULATION) NEEDS TO RISE UP URGENTLY AND CALL ON THE GOD OF THE BIBLE TO INTERVENE IN THE AFFAIRS OF OUR NATION. 

Values, morals and principles of God’s word that have been eroded and even discarded needs to be restored. The time has come for the church to repent of lethargy and “political correctness” and cry out to the Lord to revitalize and restore to the church a dynamic prophetic voice to speak with clarity amidst the disaster we find ourselves in. 

Urgently, we need to pray and ask the Lord to raise up the Daniels, Josephs and Nehemiah’s of our day. Men and women of integrity, many of whom are members of churches, who will put the constitution and the rule of law above politics. They must be encouraged to stand up and occupy positions of leadership at all levels of government – local, provincial, and national. Men and women who will resist corruption and build a better future in our country for generations to come. 

We sense an urgency in the spirit – so we call you to join The Return South Africa – 2021:

This is an appointed time set apart for one purpose – to come before the Lord in humility, in sincerity, in prayer and intercession. 

What can you do to make this happen? 

The Return, South Africa is an open invitation to all churches, ministries, and individuals from all Christian backgrounds to join in focussed prayer on April 27th, 2021. 

By way of this letter, join this groundswell movement and mobilize pastors, leaders, and individual members of the Body of Christ. Then, ask them to invite members, family, friends, cell groups and more to join in 90 minutes of prayer. The Return – South Africa prayer movement will be available LIVE on YouTube and Facebook. Together, around the nation and the world, we will cry out to the Lord for His intervention in the desperate affairs of South Africa. Time is short, so your immediate attention is of utmost importance. 

How will it work?

Some twenty national leaders will lead our nation in a time of intercession and prayer on 27th April 2021 from 3pm – 4:30pm. This Zoom prayer meeting will be broadcast simultaneously on YouTube and Facebook. Anyone can join us in 90 minutes of prayer across the country or anywhere in the world.
