Update from the missions field

We are here in Africa… Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire to be more exact. The enemy has tried to discourage us, but he CONTINUES TO FAIL!

On our first day of meetings Kathy had a bad fever and all the symptoms of food poisoning. Several days later, she is finally feeling better.

That first night, I must have been hit with the same thing…but without the strong fever she had. I must have gotten up to use the restroom every hour! So, at the start of our meeting I was depleted…not what I call “a good start” for the first time being back since my brain hemorrhaged November 21 of 2017. By lunchtime I felt like I’d been preaching for the entire week! But the next night I slept like a rock and woke up healed. Please continue to pray for our health and safety.

Kathy has already met with the women (We have six couples here and some single women too.) There are about 50 people in our 2018 WACA Meeting. John Scholtz and Grant Dreyden arrived last night to bless our leaders with some quality teaching on World View and Farming God’s Way, which was added to Live School as a course late last year. John is the chairman of the board of World Mission Centre and Grant is the director of Farming God’s Way. We also are expecting one of our board members, Duane Erickson, to come. Unfortunately, the storms in Atlanta have delayed his flight, and he will be coming a day late. We are excited to hear from him about the importance of youth in fulfilling the Great Commission.

It has been such a blessing to see our West African brothers and sisters, especially those who took care of me in Senegal when I had the brain hemorrhage. I look forward to hearing their story. I remember nothing besides the first onset of the hemorrhage. I was there close to six days before I was life-flighted out of Dakar, Senegal. I don’t even remember seeing our Guinea Bissau coordinator, Daniel. He arrived to spend some time with me in Senegal and the LDA students the day after I had the brain hemorrhage.

The first day of our meeting, in my devotional I read the Parable of the Sower. I was struck how it spoke of faith’s perseverance. The rest of the chapter in Luke 8 goes through examples of those who persevered in faith and received their miracles. It has been the encouragement of these Scriptures that got us through that first day. But today, IT IS A NEW DAY! The enemy tries to get us distracted with various “pot shots.” But if we will stay focused on the promises, we will see a 30, 60, and 100 fold return. We are expecting God to do great things here among us!
